Position Summary Information

Objective

To perform the day-to-day operations of the Business Computer Applications and/or Programming instructional programs. Primarily instruction of BCIS 1305 Business Computer Applications, where students will study computer terminology, hardware, and software related to the business environment. The instruction will focus on business productivity software applications and professional behavior in computing, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation graphics, and
business-oriented utilization of the Internet.

Essential Duties

• Provide instruction for courses as scheduled.

• Demonstrates a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellence.

• Maintain access to students through posted office hours and electronic communication.

• Prepare and utilize a course syllabus and assessments for each course using guidelines established by the institution.

• Provide grade evaluation on each student’s performance in a fashion and frequency required by the college.

• Evaluate students’ performance through a variety of means to measure progress and keep them informed in a timely manner.

• Provide grade evaluation on each student’s performance in a fashion and frequency required by the college.

• Provide information that is requested from all faculty.

• Demonstrate a positive and professional relationship with students, colleagues, college administration, and the community.

• Responsible for other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other instructors, staff, administration and students.

Ability to instruct a class for students to achieve the course learning objectives and to use current technology.

Preferred Experience and Training

Community college teaching experience desirable as well as experience using online learning systems as a supplement to face-to-face classes.

Online teaching experience preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements
Required Degree, License or Certifications

Masters degree with 18 graduate hours in the teaching field of Business Computer Applications or related field or relevant computer technical coursework.
