This is a 12month, benefits eligible position. Blinn College pays 100% of health insurance for full time employees, 50% for dependents, and two times your annual salary in life insurance benefits. Optional coverage’s can begin on your first active duty date. Position Summary Information

Objective

To perform complex and independent routine and preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC equipment, but not limited to condensers, pumps, motors, coils, fans, and blowers, filters, boilers, cooling towers and related ancillary equipment.
To assist other technicians in the HVAC Department in the performance of preventative maintenance and repairs on all components of the HVAC system.

Required Quals Summary

High School Diploma or GED. 5+ years of work related experience.

1. Perform preventative maintenance as per established preventative maintenance program, and demonstrate proactive maintenance procedures.

2. Respond to and complete work requests for problems with the HVAC/R units or systems.

3. Troubleshoot and make repairs to heating and direct expansion HVAC/R systems, electrical wiring related to HVAC/R equipment, soldering or welding of Freon or water lines, replacing HVAC/R components of units and replacing complete HVAC/R units.

4. Participate in projects relating to the HVAC/R department and systems.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Two (2) or more years’ experience with HVAC systems.

2. Approved EPA Certified License to handle and purchase refrigerants.

5. High School diploma or GED equivalent; supplemented by vocational or special training in the air conditioning, electrical, or mechanical field.

1. Knowledge of HVAC/R equipment functions, repair, and maintenance procedures.
2. Knowledge and ability to perform preventative maintenance services as well as minor and major repair on HVAC/R equipment.
3. Knowledge of safety procedures relating to HVAC/R standards and adherence to all safety standards and work practices as set by the Central Plant.
4. Well organized and able to prioritize work, and able to work independently without close supervision.
5. Ability to work inside and outside in all weather conditions.
6. Ability to read, write, and communicate with co-workers, supervisors and internal and external customers.
7. Near visual acuity, depth perception, field of vision and color vision.
8. Ability to stoop, bend, climb stairs and ladders, crawling, stretching, twisting of upper body, prolong standing on concrete floors and walking over uneven terrain, and ability to lift 50 pounds and unstable objects.
9. Successful completion of job related, continuing and routine education as assigned by supervisor as required.
10. Regular and punctual attendance at the workplace is required. Ability to work overtime may be required to complete a job in progress, or to handle emergency situations that may occur outside of regular work hours.
11. Computer literate.
