This position is located off-campus with the Down Syndrome Association of Brazos Valley in Bryan, Texas. You must be work-study eligible to qualify, and be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours, or more). A qualified candidate must have their own transportation and laptop computer. The candidate selected for the position will receive basic to advanced training on several social media platforms as well as WordPress and Google for Education.

Position Summary Information

Objective

The Social Media and Marketing Specialist will be responsible for Down Syndrome Association of Brazos Valley (DSABV) social media presence including: WordPress website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, etc. The student worker is an integral part of keeping DSABV current in the social media space. Additionally, this position will work directly with executive director and board members to create and enhance strategic opportunities to gain new ground in community awareness, building strong followers and volunteers, and keeping families and members engaged through social media and marketing opportunities.

Essential Duties

● Become familiar with the organization, its members, mission and goals
● Assist in communication strategy planning
● Coordinate, plan and create content to update established media channels
● Assist with planning future media and marketing strategy
● Maintain Wordpress website
● Plan and create email campaigns and newsletters on regular basis
● Work with communication calendar to plan content ahead of time and react to postings in a timely fashion
● Other marketing, website and social media duties as determined

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Our ideal candidate has experience and knowledge in major social media platforms, WordPress, FirstGiving (fundraising platform), newsletter creation, and Google Apps/Google for Education.

● Experience with people with Down syndrome is not required
